Good afternoon, I wanted to touch base regarding DRA testing as I have been receiving questions from teachers.DRA testing expectations are also reflected on the Assessment Guide. The teacher contract outlines sub coverage for DRAs at the beginning, middle, and end of the year as follows: Beginning of the year, aligned with our Fast Bridge benchmark testing schedule, teachers may be subbed out to administer DRAs to:
K-2 - All students
3-6 - Any student whose SRI indicates DRA is needed
These scores can be used for the 1st Trimester report card
At the end of 1st Trimester, aligned with report cards, during their Reading Block in lieu of guided reading groups, teachers may administer a DRA test to:
K-2 - Any student whose reading level has changed from the Beginning of the year, and this growth needs to be reflected on the Report Card
These scores can be used for the 1st Trimester report card
Mid-year,aligned with our Fast Bridge benchmark testing schedule, teachers may be subbed to administer DRAs to:
K-1 - Any student NOT at mid-year benchmark from previous testing
2-6 - Any student whose SRI indicates DRA is needed
These scores can be used for the 2nd Trimester report card
At the end of 2nd Trimester, aligned with report cards, during their Reading Block in lieu of guided reading groups, teachers may administer a DRA test to:
K-1 - Any student whose reading level has changed from Mid-year, and this growth needs to be reflected on the Report Card
These scores can be used for the 2nd Trimester report card
End of year, aligned with our Fast Bridge benchmark testing schedule, teachers may be subbed to administer DRAs to:
K-1 - All students
2-6 - Any student whose SRI indicates DRA is needed
These scores can be used for the 3rd Trimester report card
I also attached DRA expectation chart you have used in years past to help clarify testing expectations. Taking into consideration the reading gaps we are seeing due to COVID learning loss, we have modified some grade levels' expected DRA level. Those numbers are reflected on the attached scoring guidelines document and will also be reflected on grade level Report cards. This information will also be posted on the Fraser Curriculum Weebly.
