It’s important to communicate with families and caregivers on a regular basis about the social-emotional skills and concepts being taught in Second Step® Elementary. Clear and timely communication can strengthen a family’s connection with the classroom and helps them support their child’s growth and development at home. There are several resources that are available to help you keep families and caregivers informed and engaged throughout the year. The link above provides a plan for weekly communications that can be included as part of your weekly message to families and caregivers to keep them up-to-date on the social-emotional learning focus for the week. Weekly communications are tied to each lesson and offer a prompt to spark conversation or an activity to support practice at home. Resources to introduce the program to all families schoolwide are available in the All Grades: Introducing the Program article. This is where you’ll find a program overview family letter and open house resources.
